Out of all cathedrals we have seen so far, Cordoba is an absolute top. It’s a mosque rebuilt to a church, which makes it quite unique. It is one of very few churches where we lingered to soak up the atmosphere, instead of just ticking the box. Romantic gardens of Alcazar, little streets of Jewish quarter, and a delicious Rabo de Torro stew make Cordoba a must see.
Cordoba will also be remembered as one of these days when things just work out. Despite heavy rain in the morning, it was mostly sunny and dry during our visit. We arrived to get one of the last spots in parking garage, we just made it to see the gardens, arrived on time to avoid a huge queue at the cathedral, got the last table at a restaurant and managed to eat just before they closed it. If we had planned it, it would never go so smoothly.
…and now we jinxed it. Post about “the day when everything sucks” might be coming soon.
