Ronda was supposed to be just a side trip on our way from Malaga to Tarifa, but it actually turned out to be one of the highlights of Andalusia. It’s a small town built above a gorge, and it is absolutely stunning.
While wandering around the old town, we found a perfect place for lunch. Only six tables inside, packed with locals, no English around. We entered with our loud “Hola”, and for a second the room went silent. Then all at once: “oooh, un bebe, bonito, guapo, chico…”. Baby won them over with one smile. The food was excellent, and we found out that babies are a great conversation starter. The fact that we don’t speak any Spanish evidently didn’t bother the locals.
Sometimes, it is the unexpected that creates the best memories.
